Amendments to the U.S. Constitution
Amendment 1

Amendment 2
Protects our right to bear arms. The founding fathers chose this in case of wars or self defense from others because they were still scarred by the revolutionary war.
Amendment 3
Stops soldiers from staying inside peoples houses during a war or peacetime. This was due to the British soldiers staying in their houses during the revolution.
Amendment 4
Protects us from being raided by the police without a warrant. This was made too make people feel like their property is private.
Amendment 5
People have the right too stay silent during a trial. Stops the abuse of power from the government in a legal procedure.
Amendment 6
Gives the rights in a criminal prosecution. Rights like a speedy trial, right to an impartial jury, right to know the charges against you, right to hear and question witnesses, and the right to an attorney.
Amendment 7
Gives the rights in a civil trial. If the value of the crime is over $20 then you get a jury, and if the jury decides the judge cannot make a different decision.
Amendment 8
Protects from cruel and unusual punishments. The Government can not make a fine or bail too costly, and can not do punishments like death or torture.
